On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France and the celebration of the icons of « Les Passeurs Culturels », intellectuals, artists, scientists who have develop the relation between France and Indonesia well before the establishment of diplomatic relations.
One of these were Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ratna Mohini.
This afternoon of mix media performance to celebrate the life of Ratna Mohini, the extraordinary Javanese artist who made her mark in the vibrant cultural landscape of Paris from the mid-1930s onwards and the love journey that she shared with the legendary French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. Her journey from Indonesia to France was not merely a migration but a profound exploration of identity and artistry.
Ratna’s story represents not only her struggles and triumphs but also the broader narratives of Indonesian women in the world of arts.
